New Operations Service Center & Career and Technical Education Center (Growth & Reinvestment):

Our construction manager on the project (McCownGordon Construction) is providing the district with monthly reports on the project. We continue utility rough-in, interior wall construction, exterior wall construction and roofing activities within the existing building. Overhead utility rough-in on the main level is complete. Overhead utility rough-in for the lower level will be complete in late October. For the building addition, we continue to pour our cast-in-place tilt-up concrete exterior walls. The tilt-up panels will start to be raised here in the next few weeks. The concrete footings and foundations are complete.

Santa Fe Trail Middle School (Growth & Reinvestment):

Punch-list items continue to be addressed in the new facility, and we continue to work with staff on completing these and any warranty items as they come up. For the existing facility, all utilities have been cut off to the building. Our demolition contractor has finished work on the inside in preparation for full building demolition. We received our state of Kansas approval paperwork for our abatement removal project and have received our demolition permit from the City of Olathe. Full building demolition will continue for the next month.

Aging Facilities 2025 (Growth & Reinvestment):

Planning has started for the Aging Facilities 2025 project. We are presenting the architects' design fee at the Board of Education meeting this month. Various bid approvals will take place during the winter months.

HVAC Upgrades 2025 (Growth & Reinvestment):

We are currently out to bid on our HVAC upgrade project and will present bids for approval at the November board meeting.

Roofing Upgrades 2025 (Growth & Reinvestment):

Construction bids have been received, reviewed, and are submitted for approval at the October board meeting. Construction will take place during summer break 2025.

Track and Tennis Court Upgrades 2025 (Growth & Reinvestment):

Construction work continues on our tennis courts at Olathe Northwest High School. Construction photos of Olathe Northwest High School's courts show the new concrete post-tension playing surface and fencing. We have finished tennis court upgrades at the following locations: Olathe South High School resurface; Olathe East High School crack fill and resurface; and College Boulevard Activity Center resurface and drainage work.

For the track upgrades, we have completed the following projects: Olathe West High School restripe; and Pioneer Trail, Indian Trail and Chisholm Trail middle schools respray the track surface and restripe.

We still need to finish restriping the following tracks: Olathe East, Olathe North High School and Olathe District Activity Center. This should be completed in the month of October.

Once we have the state's paperwork, we can submit it to the City of Olathe for our full building demolition permit. We anticipate starting full demolition as soon as possible.

Scott Rice Office Works started installation of classroom furniture on April 15. Classroom furniture installation will take place for the next five to six weeks as we prepare to move items over from the existing building after school is out at the end of May. We continue to work on punch-list items throughout the building.

If approved, the plan is to start interior demolition in mid-November. We would like to have the existing interior down to structure so we can make sure we expose any potential issues in the building prior to finishing construction documents.

Inspection audits have taken place during summer break at the remaining elementary schools. The results of this audit will set our schedule to finish the remaining location. We are presenting costs for approval at the November meeting to complete the remaining schools as part of the overall upgrade program. The schedule is to have all locations completed by the end of Summer Break 2024.

The turf replacement project on our baseball fields at CBAC and ODAC continues. Turf installation is complete on the south field and almost complete on the north field at ODAC. At CBAC, turf installation is almost complete on the south field and has started on the north field. The overall project should be finished in early November.

Our design team has finished schematic design on the project. Design development meetings continue with project stakeholders, career and technical education staff and industry partners as we start off the new school year. Our current schedule is to have construction documents completed for bidding in late fall/ early winter 2023. We are currently out to bid on our interior demolition scope of work for the existing Lindenwood building.

The project is complete. Work scheduled on the east side of Indian Trail Middle School is complete as well and providing additional vehicle stacking on our property during pick-up and drop-off.

The concrete cast-in-place exterior wall panels installation has started and to date we have installed 54 panels.

The building will start to go vertical starting around May 10 with the installation of our concrete cast-in-place exterior wall panels.

Grading of the crane roads will continue, as will electrical and some pouring of small concrete slabs. We are currently still on our original completion schedule.

High School Field Turf Replacement (Student Experience):

Work is currently underway at Olathe North, Olathe Northwest, and Olathe East high schools.

• Olathe North: Mammoth Sports Construction has completed installation of the new turf and is finishing up installing the sand and rubber infill. Project will be completed this week.
• Olathe Northwest: Mammoth Sports Construction has removed the existing turf, graded out the sub-base and has started installation of the new padding that goes underneath the new turf. Project is scheduled to be complete the week of Aug. 15.
• Olathe East: Mammoth Sports Construction has removed the existing turf and started to grade out the sub-base in anticipation of installing the new padding next week. Project is scheduled to be completed around Aug. 25.
• Olathe South: This portion of the project is scheduled to start on Oct. 17.

Currently the project is in the construction document phase in anticipation of bidding the project in October and November. The schedule is to start construction in early November with a substantial completion around April 2024. Demolition of the existing building will start during summer break 2024 with installation of the new track and football field to follow. The new track and football field will be where the existing building is currently. 

Our project has been formally submitted to the City of Olathe with approval of our preliminary development plan by the Planning Commission and our final plat by the City Council.

Olathe South High School and Indian Trail Middle School Traffic Circulation Improvement Project (Safety):

Kaw Valley Engineering has completed the geotechnical report and site survey of the Olathe South High School / Indian Trail Middle School / Heritage Elementary School campus. The next step will be to transfer the conceptual layout onto the survey and complete the preliminary design for district staff review. After staff review, Kaw Valley will start the development plans as required by the City of Olathe. The current schedule is to bid this project in October. Construction will take place during summer break 2023.
