What We Do at Parents as Teachers
Certified parent educators, trained in child development, visit families 1-2 times a month in their home. They support parents in understanding every stage of their child's development and offer guidance through these important years. They conduct developmental screenings in the areas of language, motor, and social-emotional skills. They also do vision and hearing screenings each year. Parent Educators provide each family with community resources based on the family's goals and needs. Their job is to "Empower Families Everywhere". Enrollment is open to parents of children age birth to 36 months.
Group connection activities are for families enrolled in home visits with Parents as Teachers in Olathe. They include parent/child activities, screenings, and parent support classes. The goal of our Group Connections is to bring families together to interact with each other and their children, and to learn something new about play, development, or other parenting topics.
PAT helps connect families to community services that support their parenting as needed. Resources can be found on the left-hand menu under "Parenting Resources."
