Message from the Program Coordinator

  • To our PAT families, we are thinking of you today!

We miss you but because we want to keep your family and ours healthy during the Covid 19 outbreak, all PAT in person home visits, playgroups, and group connections are canceled until further notice. The PAT staff is working from home now, with no access to our office space so things are still evolving.

Of course, we are sad and look forward to the day when we are back to normal services, but for now we will be following the Olathe School District and the CDC guidelines and will maintain social distancing and are following the stay at home order issued by Governor Kelly. We encourage you to do the same.

So- for now we will be posting regularly on our Facebook page, and the parent educators are contacting  their families to discuss virtual visits using the technology that keeps us connected to each other. Your parent educator will discuss this with you, including what delivery method for visits works best for you. Even though our buildings are closed, our school district is not! W will still be delivering parent education to you, and adding in some things you can do at home for fun, developing skills, and encouraging family well-being during this difficult time. We are even thinking of some Facebook live activities so stay tuned for that! We are working with the National PAT Center and the state of Kansas, and will continue to support our wonderful families through virtual visits, Facebook, phone calls, texts, emails and resources.

Remember, your children need you now to stay healthy-physically as well as mentally. Stress and anxiety are normal when routines are disrupted, and this has been especially difficult for all of us. Take care of yourselves and your families. Remember what we say in our mindful yoga groups- BREATH- and remember the past is the past. There is nothing we can do about the past, it is already gone. The future isn't here yet. All we have is the present. Breathe.

Be present for your child. Be present for yourselves. Listen to the birds singing, and feel the sunshine on your faces. We will all be ok. And we will see you all soon!

Sending love and peace to you,

    Dorothy
