With the help of a committee of educational professionals, the Culture and Belonging Department administered $27,000 in grants, up to $1,500 each, to promote student belonging at the building level.
There were 31 recipients from 17 different buildings impacting an estimated 9,105 students. Some of the projects included support for a diversity and inclusion schoolwide assembly at one of the high schools, a high school cultural fair, field trip transportation assistance needed because of the bus driver shortage, registrations for professional conferences, family nights, lowrider bike clubs at middle schools, snacks and supplies for club meetings, and a host of other unique needs.
