Join an Affinity Group
Olathe Public Schools affinity groups were created in 2020 to give support, networking and resources for employees who identify within the specified groups. Facilitated by OPS’ Department of Culture and Belonging, these groups help foster a culture of belonging, retention, and leadership development for members by providing a space for them to convene and interact.
Black Educator Affinity Group
The goal of the Black Educator Affinity Group is to offer a space for Black educators to connect once a month and share their experiences in education, while aiding in professional growth. All staff members are welcome to join a strong network of support that promotes retention and skills needed for advancement.

Latino Educator Affinity Group
The Latino Educator Affinity Group aims to meet once a month to have conversations about race, equity, inclusion, and diversity for staff and students. They hope to be a collective voice to advocate for their community to improve educational opportunities for the growing Latino population of Olathe.

LGBTQI+ Educator Affinity Group
Any classified or certified staff members who identify as a member of the LGBTQI+ community are welcome to join the LGBTQI+ Educator Affinity Group, whose goal is to provide support, connection, and resources for one another. The group meets once a quarter to share experiences and walk through obstacles together.
