10-17-18 — ACT Scores Outpace National Average

Oct. 17, 2018 ~ Students in the Olathe School District scored a composite score of 23.9 on the ACT exam, which is the third highest in the district's history. The scores were well above state and national peers, 21.6 and 20.8 respectively.

"Our strong ACT composite average is reflective of the exceptional work our staff and students are accomplishing to prepare students not only for the ACT exam, but for success after high school," Assistant Superintendent for Learning Services Brent Yeager said. "We are proud to consistently be above the state and national average."

The four tests of the ACT Assessment measure academic areas traditionally identified with college preparatory high school programs: math, English, reading and science reasoning. ACT test scores are reported on a scale of 1 to 36.

The ACT is universally accepted for college admission and includes an interest inventory that provides information for career and educational planning. Many students take the ACT as a junior and again as a senior.
