Nov. 8, 2016 ~ The fall sports season was filled with victory for three Olathe high school teams and two individual athletes.

The Olathe East High School gymnastics team earned their seventh 6A state championship since 2002 and gymnast Samantha Bond claimed individual titles for the second consecutive year. Olathe East’s state victories came in 2016, 2015, 2012, 2008, 2007, 2003 and 2002. This year Bond won in the All Around, Floor, and Vault categories. Last year she won in Beam and Floor.

The boys cross country team from Olathe East won the state championship, and Will Tindall claimed an individual title.

With the successes of the gymnastics and cross country teams, Olathe East earned its 50th state title in its 25-year school history.

Across town, the Olathe Northwest High School volleyball team celebrated its 6A championship title after beating Blue Valley West High School in three games. The team finished the season with an impressive 38-4 record.
