11-6-17 — Guerrero to Lead Opening of Summit Trail Middle School
Nov. 6, 2017 ~ At its Nov. 2 meeting, the Olathe Board of Education accomplished three important tasks related to the district's newest middle school, expected to open in August 2018 at 22201 W. 118th St. in Olathe. The board approved the name Summit Trail Middle and established boundaries for the school.
The board also approved the hiring of Sarah Guerrero as principal of the new school. Currently, Guerrero is principal of Indian Trail Middle. She will complete the school year at Indian Trail and will move to her new role in July.
"I am honored and excited to be selected as the first principal of Summit Trail Middle School," Guerrero said. "The upcoming year will be exciting and I look forward to supporting and serving our students, parents, and staff. Summit Trail will be an innovative, engaging, and fun school focused on student success."
Guerrero has been in her current role as principal for Indian Trail since 2015. Prior to Indian Trail, she was an administrator in the Piper School District. She also has experience as a teacher at California and Mission Trail middle schools, in the Piper School District, and as a teacher and coach in Texas. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Texas A&M University, her master's degree and doctoral degree in school leadership from Baker University.
