10-30-17 — Supporting Emotional Needs of Students in Special Education
Oct. 30, 2017 ~ The Olathe Public Schools Special Services Site Council will host a free seminar for parents of students with special education needs. "Supporting the Emotional Needs of Students Receiving Special Education Services" is the topic of the Thursday, Nov. 9 meeting which begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Instructional Resource Center, 14090 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe.
Licensed clinical social workers / therapists Stephanie Allegre and Francie Pollom will educate parents about student anxiety and depression. They will also discuss how parents can support their children when emotional concerns arise.
The next session will be Jan. 18, 2018. The topic is "Supporting Students with Intellectual Disabilities to Successfully Navigate Puberty."
Sign language and Spanish interpreters for these seminars can be requested by calling Sally Boyd in Special Services at (913) 780-8170. There is no need to RSVP for the seminars.
