Dec. 11, 2020 ~ Emily Yan, a junior at Olathe West High School, has earned a perfect score of 36 on the ACT. Nationally, while the actual number of students earning a composite score of 36 varies from year to year, less than one-tenth of 1 percent of students taking the ACT earn a top score.

“We are extremely proud of Emily for this incredible accomplishment,” Olathe West Principal Jay Novacek said. “Not only is Emily a leader in the classroom, she is involved in many activities at West. I am excited to have a perfect ACT score in our fourth year as a school and can think of no one better to be a part of this history than Emily.”

She is involved chamber orchestra and a member of the district honor orchestra, student council, a scholar’s bowl team captain and a volunteer at the Library of Congress as an online transcriber.
