11-3-20 — 2020 ACT Scores Outpace National Average

Nov. 3, 2020 ~ Students in the Olathe School District scored a composite score of 22.6 on the ACT exam. The scores were well above state and national peers, 20.4 and 20.6 respectively.

"Our strong ACT composite average is reflective of the exceptional work our staff and students are accomplishing to prepare students not only for the ACT exam, but for success after high school," Assistant Superintendent for Learning Services Brent Yeager said. "We are not only proud to consistently be above the state and national average, but this year, 200 more students took the exam than in the previous year. Making the exam accessible to all students is vital."

The four tests of the ACT Assessment measure academic areas traditionally identified with college preparatory high school programs: math, English, reading and science reasoning. ACT test scores are reported on a scale of 1 to 36.

The ACT is universally accepted for college admission and includes an interest inventory that provides information for career and educational planning. Many students take the ACT as a junior and again as a senior.
