Library Services

  • School libraries in the Olathe district offer instruction and guidance for all students as they become successful independent readers, thinkers, and researchers. Over time, the focus on school libraries has shifted from that of a defined location within four walls to a space that is fluid, diverse, and affords multiple print and digital access points for any number of teaching and learning scenarios.

Using an approved district library media curriculum, school librarians develop and support multidisciplinary learning opportunities throughout the school. Instruction provided by school librarians focuses on information literacy skills, encouraging a love of reading, and digital citizenship. As lifelong learners, it is imperative that students are guided as they become both users and producers of information. Teaching 21st century skills is an art that moves beyond boundaries, and school librarians help our students learn how to interact with information on a global scale.

Online access to school library resources is available.
