Bob was a line foreman for Kansas Power and Light for 36 years, but his passion was Olathe’s history. A member/leader of the Johnson County and Olathe historical societies, Bob collected Olathe newspapers and compiled a 100-page scrapbook of old photographs, articles, facts, letters and legends about Olathe as well as a bicentennial calendar. As a member of the Johnson County Old Settlers Committee, Bob’s treasures were on display every year. He was active in establishing the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm and donated a substantial amount of memorabilia to its collection. He was a long-time member of the All-School Alumni Association, organizing many reunions and assembling several directories. He belonged to the Earl Collier American Legion Post #153, Masonic Lodge #65, and Sons of the Union Soldiers of the Civil War.
