Bob Courtney - Honored in 2018

    Bob taught elementary physical education in the Shawnee Mission School District from 1966-1979, before coming to Olathe where he was the library media specialist at Westview, Central, Tomahawk and Briarwood elementary schools until 1992. From 1992 until retirement in 2010, Bob was the district’s energy manager. In addition to being nominated for Kansas Teacher of the Year in 1984, he also served on the local Elementary Social Studies and Science/Health and Physical Education Curriculum Revision Committees. He was instrumental in Olathe’s Sesquicentennial Celebration and is currently very involved with the Olathe Historical Society, having served as president and a member of several of its boards. Bob is the historian for the Olathe Public Schools Alumni Association and worked closely with the design company that produced the district timeline displayed in the Education Center. He is also deeply involved in getting Olathe yearbooks online for better preservation and viewing by the community.
