Welcome to eAcademy!
We're excited to welcome you to eAcademy! This semester, you'll be one of the first students to use Canvas, our new learning management system. Canvas is replacing Moodle to provide a more user-friendly experience for everyone.
Here's What to Do
-
First Day Checklist
- Log in to Canvas via ClassLink. Your courses will be available on the first day of the semester or term.
- Complete the eAcademy Orientation Module. You must complete this module and watch your instructor's Startup Meeting within your eAcademy course before you can access your course materials.
- Check for special instructions. Keep an eye out for communication from your instructor with any additional information you need to get started.
Special Instructions for PE and Health:
- Physical Education (PE) students: You must complete the eAcademy Orientation Module and watch your instructor’s Startup Meeting on Canvas. You should have already received a separate email with instructions on how to set up your Polar monitor and complete your first practice workout. Click here to see a summary of the steps online. You will have assignments in Canvas and will upload your workouts to the Polar platform. Both you and a parent or guardian must also complete a safety acknowledgment form.
- Health students: You will receive a separate email with instructions for logging into your Health course, which will be completed on the Edgenuity platform. You will not use Canvas for this course, and you do not need to complete the eAcademy Orientation Module.
A Note for Parents
-
We encourage you to download the Canvas Parent App to stay connected to your student's progress. You can review the same orientation module your student completes and monitor their course progress and teacher feedback.
Here are a few other things to keep in mind:
- Virtual meetings: Teachers may hold virtual meetings with students, but only the recorded Startup Meeting is required. Other meetings are optional but encouraged if needed. Parents are welcome to listen in but should not participate.
- No live lectures: Courses are self-paced with published due dates. Students can work ahead and don't need to be online at a specific time each day.
- Student communication: Students are expected to communicate directly with their instructors. They are encouraged to CC a parent on their emails.
- Grades: Official grades can be found on StudentVUE and ParentVUE.
- Required PE Safety Acknowledgement (PE students only): A parent/guardian and the student must complete the required PE safety acknowledgment. Your student will find instructions and a link on the PE Advisory page in the left menu.
For more information on expectations and getting started, check out the Parent Expectations Page and learn how to access the Canvas Parent Portal.
