Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)

  • The Olathe School District is proud to offer the Certified Nurse Assistant Certification Course through Johnson County Community College. Students completing this course will fulfill the requirements to be eligible to take the state exam required by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services to attain certification as a Kansas Certified Nurse Assistant.

    All students must have a cumulative 75% or higher on all tests, quizzes and assignments to pass this class and take the state board exam.

    Attendance and active participation in class, lab and clinical setting are mandatory for each student for successful completion. The Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services mandates the CNA course is a minimum of 90 hours. Excused absences will require missed time to be made up as determined by the instructor and Johnson County Community College in order to ensure class and clinical minimum standards have been met.

    Uniform and supplies required while attending a clinical setting:

    • Gait belt
    • Watch with a second hand
    • Johnson County Community College Health Occupations T-shirt
    • Hunter Green Uniform/Scrub Pants
    • Leather/tennis shoe
    • Name tag (provided)
    • Small notebook
    • Black pen

    Documentation of the following must be provided prior to attending a clinical setting:

    • Negative TB test
    • Flu vaccine (Fall semester)
    • Current CPR certification
    • COVID vaccine (as required by clinical facility)
    • Social Security Card
    • Background check and drug screen completed by Johnson County Community College
