Communication and Cooperation with Providers and Hospitals
Many students and their families get mental health support through local service providers, and there are also many times when students require hospitalization for support, safety, and care. Olathe Public Schools values the expertise and support that is provided through these providers, and believes in the power of working as a team to support students and help them continue on the path toward building their future. The district encourages communication and partnership between all members of the support network working with the student and the school, and will always respect the student’s and family’s right to confidentiality. Parents should contact the child's home school, service provider, or the district’s Director of Social Emotional Learning and Mental Health Services, if they have any questions regarding a release of information.

Pre/Post Tests for Student Groups
When parents give consent for students to participate in a therapeutic group run by a school-based Mental Health Professional, data will be collected to gauge the group’s effectiveness. This data is collected by a pre and post-test. Some of the pre and post-tests that could be given are posted here. When data is collected, it is used to help the Mental Health Professional understand what parts of the group need to be strengthened for the next time the group is run. It is also used to help the Mental health Professional know which students may need further assistance. A data summary of each group is kept, but individual student information is non-identifiable to anyone but the Mental Health Professional. Please contact your school with any questions about any of these documents.
