Scavenger Hunt
The Kids National Geographic website has mini-biographies of all the U.S. presidents. See if you can find which president served two terms that were not in a row. See if you can find presidents who were related to each other. Click here to go to the website.What are the jobs of people in our community?
As you travel outside of your house this week, find people who are working in your community. What tasks are they performing? How do their jobs help us?How can we respect and care for our world?
In order to decrease waste in our landfills we can reuse items. Find one way you can decrease waste in your own life. Share your idea with an adult and try to do that for several days in a row. For example: “Use a refillable water bottle for drinking water so you can fill it up again and reuse it. That way we don’t throw away plastic bottles.”Uh oh... that’s not good!
Littering and polluting hurt all of us. Grab a trash bag, a pair of gloves, and go for a walk with a trusted adult. Find trash that might be on the street, or at the local park. Pick up the trash and throw it away. Talk about what might happen if everyone threw their trash on the ground.How do things and people change over time?
Collect family photos in a small photo album; discuss how people have changed or point out landmarks, such as a tree in the front yard, that have grown or changed over the years. What changes do you notice? Share your ideas with a family member. Ask them what changes they notice.How do people in a community earn money?
Can you name a job that an adult does such as a teacher? What kind of job would you like to have one day? Draw a picture of 10 things that you think you'd need to buy when you earn money at your job one day. Write the name of each item below each of your pictures. Then, show it to someone in your house and explain what you drew and why.Do you know THESE ABCs?
