Counting to 100 by ones and tens
Try these activities.
- Count to 100 by tens. Write the numbers in chalk spread out in an area. Jump on each number in order as you call out the number name!
- Make a counting maze. It can be in chunks of counting (ex: 30-50) or all the way to 100! Follow the numbers in order, counting as you go.
- Take a counting walk. Start at a spot (like your front door) and take 100 steps. How far did you go?
- Play Tens Basketball. Set out a laundry basket and ten balled up socks. Each time you make a basket it is 10 points. Once you’ve shot all of the socks, count up your points. How many points can you get?
Counting objects to 20
Try these activities.
- Take out a handful of Cheerios (or any small snack) and put them into groups of ten. Count your snack!
- Have someone call out a number. Walk, skip, or hop to find that many items.
- Build a tower out of objects (ex: blocks, legos, pillows). Count as you put another one on top. What’s the tallest tower you can make before it falls over?
- Go around your home and count all the windows (doors, lights...) you find.
