Here is a summary of key math concepts important to students at Level 7 math.

Base: the area of the "face" on a 3D shape that helps identify the figure (it does not always have to be on the bottom of the figure)
Cube: a 3-dimensional figure with six equal square faces
Denominator: the number of equal parts making up a whole (the bottom number in a fraction)
Division: the operation of making equal groups to find out how many in each group or how many groups. Click here to watch a video on this topic
Equivalent: having the same value
Improper Fraction: a fraction with a numerator that is greater than or equal to its denominator
Mixed Number: a quantity written with an integer and a fraction
Number Forms: Standard form: 3045; Word form: three thousand, forty-five; Expanded form: 3000 + 40 + 5; Unit form: 3 thousands 4 tens 5 ones
Numerator: tells how many equal parts of a whole are being described (the top number of a fraction)
Remainder: amount leftover after dividing a number. Click here to watch a video on this topic
Scaling: expressing the amount of the enlargement or reduction to the original
Unit Fraction: when a whole is divided into equal parts, a unit fraction is one of those parts. (A unit fraction has a numerator that is 1.)
Volume: the number of cubic units it takes to fill a 3-dimensional figure

Try these additional activities for summer math fun!
Build a fort (yes, an awesome, real fort) that is in the shape of a rectangular prism. Using a measurement tool, find the length, width, and height of your fort, and then use those measurements to find the volume.
Draw an animal using at least one parallelogram, rhombus, rectangle, square, and trapezoid. Label each shape with its correct name.
