Summer 2023 Driver Education

  • The Olathe School District will offer driver’s education in the summer of 2023 in an in-person classroom format. Classes will meet daily from 8-10 a.m. or 1-3 p.m., Monday through Friday at Olathe East High School.

Two sessions will be offered. The June session will be June 5-28. The July session will be July 10-Aug. 1. Students will pick a morning or afternoon time and a June or July session. If the student drives during class, notes from that hour will be available to the student.

Students will drive with their assigned instructor two or three days a week. Students will be dropped off and picked up at Olathe East High School. Olathe East is the headquarters for the driver’s education program.

Dates to apply for the summer program will be added to this webpage in early March.

Historically, the program has had a very high application rate. A learner’s permit is not required but will be a consideration. Students must be 14.5 years old by the first class. Driving experience with a parent/guardian is highly recommended prior to the start of class.

The cost is $325 payable by credit card, cash or check and due at registration prior to the first day of class. Successful completion of the course plus additional driving experience will enable students to obtain a Kansas driver’s license or restricted license (depending on their age and length of time they have held a permit).
