Special Education Transportation Request

  • Please complete the transportation request form for all new and changing transportation.

ESY requests must be completed by May 17 to be ready for the first day of ESY. Requests for the 2023-24 school year must be submitted by July 13. If not submitted by July 13, school bus transportation may not be available on the first day of school.

Special education busing may be available to students who are eligible based on Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team recommendations. If your student is eligible, please complete the transportation request form and submit. Changes or cancelations of service during the school year may also be submitted using the online transportation request form.

Bus route information will be distributed by DS Bus Lines. The scheduled pick-up time is an approximate time. Please have your student ready to board the bus at least five minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time. It is standard procedure for the bus to wait only two minutes past the scheduled pick-up time and then continue the scheduled route. If the bus has unplanned delays of more than 10 minutes, our school bus provider will attempt to alert parents.

Stopfinder free app for DS Bus Lines is available. Parents can view bus routes and schedule updates in real time on Stopfinder. Subscriptions will be sent to the primary guardian of all bus riders by the first week of August.

Please call DS Bus Lines at 913-361-7400 when your student is not riding the bus to school on any given day due to illness, appointments, etc.

Please notify the Olathe Public Schools transportation office of all persons authorized by you to accept your child from the bus. Students will only be released to persons you have authorized through the OPS transportation office. You must provide additional written permission for your student to be released without an adult present.

Special education students are routed from their home or daycare provider to and from school. Students will be routed “curb side” whenever possible; students may receive adult assistance when needed for daycare parking lots or apartment complexes.

Any questions may be directed to Olathe Public Schools transportation office via email to transportation@olatheschools.org.
