  • Graduation ceremonies will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at the College Boulevard Activity Center, 11031 S. Valley Parkway, Olathe KS 66061. Graduation will take about 1.5 hours.

    How can I be sure I will graduate at the end of the term? In order to graduate from Olathe North High School, the student must complete the requirements set forth by the Olathe School District and the State of Kansas. 

    How do I get information about the graduation ceremony? All senior announcements are listed on the Olathe North website and through Mr. Herman’s blog. They are also available on the daily announcements that are read during school hours and posted on EVEN block days.

    When will my final grades be posted on my transcript? Final transcripts will not be available until June. Please go to Xello now and request your final transcript to be sent with a due date of June 03, 2025. Please make sure you use a due date of June 3 or later. Please email Mrs. McQuay if you have questons.

    Is my grade point average high enough to receive recognition at commencement? Please contact your counselor.

    Where can I purchase Commencement Announcements? If you ordered commencement announcements in the fall and have not received them yet, please contact Jostens at 816-682-6157.

    How do I make sure my name is spelled correctly in the commencement program? The names for the program are collected through the Synergy computer program (Parent Vue/Student Vue). Each student, upon enrollment, is added into this system based on the information given by the parent/guardian. If there is an issue with the spelling of your name, please contact Mrs. Stanley in the office, as soon as possible. 

    Will my name be included in the graduation program? All students who have fulfilled the graduation requirements for the Olathe School District and the State of Kansas will be included in the graduation program. This includes those students who fulfilled the requirements in December and/or through alternative education in the Olathe School District.

    Where do I order my cap and gown? Cap and gown orders are taken first semester through Jostens. The information was available on the Olathe North website. You may also call Jostens at 816-628-6157 to place an order. You may purchase a tassel if needed on this day for $10, cash/card.

    Where and when do I get my cap, gown, tassel and stole? Cap, gown, tassel and stole will be distributed at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025 at our Senior Celebration Day! Seniors do not have school this day. We will meet on the football practice field.

    When and where do I pick up my honor cords? For those receiving honor cords, these will be distributed before the ceremony by your sponsor. Cords will be given as keepsakes.

    What time should graduates arrive and where do they park? Graduates should report to College Boulevard Activity Center (CBAC) NO LATER THAN 1:00 p.m. Graduates will park in the NORTH parking lot, on 107th Street, across from Prairie Trail Middle School. 

    What time should guests arrive and where do they park? Guests should arrive NO LATER THAN 1:30 p.m. at College Boulevard Activity Center, (CBAC).  (For better seats and parking, arrive one hour before the ceremony.) Guest parking is located on the east and west side of the football stadium.

    Where do graduates report for line-up? Graduates will enter on the north side of the complex. They will check in at the tables to get their seat assignment, if needed and proceed to the soccer field.

    Do I need a ticket for the ceremony? Each graduate will receive a total of seven tickets for this year’s graduation ceremony. Every human being attending will need a ticket to enter the gymnasium at Olathe Northwest, including babies. Tickets are only required IF we have an indoor ceremony.

    How much does the cap and gown cost? Cost varies from year to year; please call Jostens at 816-628-6157.  

    What side does my tassel go on? Initially, the tassel is on the right. Tassels will be moved to the left, as a group at the end of the ceremony, as instructed by Mr. Herman.

    Is there someplace for me to store my valuables during the ceremony? Please do not bring valuables to the ceremony, as there will not be a place to store them. Please lock any valuables in your car or leave them at home.

    Can I have my cell phone during the ceremony? Yes, obviously, we want the graduates to be respectful. Video and photos are permitted during the ceremony. Guests are asked to be respectful of those around them if they need to use their cell phone during the ceremony.

    Is there a dress code? A cap/gown/stole and tassel must be worn by all graduates; however, while there is no dress code for what must be worn under the gown, the Code of Conduct is expected to be followed. Most graduates choose to wear semi-formal attire, but it is not required. Dress for parents, family, and friends who will be attending the ceremony is casual to semi-formal. When deciding what to wear, keep in mind that both graduates and attendees will likely be sitting in the sun during the spring commencement ceremony.  Ladies, please DO NOT wear spiked heels; they will stick in the turf field. Wedges/flats are fine.

    What kind of weather should I expect to dress for? You can look at the local weather forecast a day or so in advance for the most accurate information regarding weather.

    Can we decorate our caps? The decoration of caps is NOT allowed, as that is a privilege reserved for post-secondary institutions.

    Can I leave after I receive my diploma? No. All graduates are required to stay for the entire ceremony.

    When will I receive my diploma? After the ceremony is complete, graduates will report to the back of the soccer field under the large white tents for diploma distribution (clearly marked by alpha rows).

    Where do guests park? The parking at CBAC is open parking on the east and west side of the football stadium.

    Where do I park if I have a handicapped family member? There are handicap parking spaces available in the parking lot at CBAC. We will have staff on golf carts assisting guests with rides into the stadium if needed.

    Is flash photography allowed during the ceremony? Yes.

    I want to know where my son/daughter is sitting, so I can see them when they walk. The students sit in alpha order, beginning with the second row. Guests will be sitting in bleachers, giving them an elevated view of the graduates who are seated on the field. Graduates will cross the stage on the south side of the stadium and walk east to west.

    When will my son/daughter be walking across the stage? The students sit in alpha order and will be announced in the same order.

    How can I order a picture of my graduate receiving their diploma on stage? Pictures of graduates will be taken by Grad Images. To order, please visit their website. Ordering info is also listed on the back of the graduation program.

    I am disabled or hearing impaired and need accommodation. Who is the contact or what information do you need from me? Please email Kathy Stanley if you have further questions about handicap seating or need accommodations.

    Where is the handicap seating for the public/attendees located? Handicap seating will line the fence on both sides of the stadium. **You must exchange a regular ticket for a handicapped ticket to occupy this seating. Seniors will pick up their grad tickets on Thursday the week of graduation. At that time they can exchange a regular ticket for a handicap. 

    My grandfather needs to sit in the handicap seating section. Can my family sit with him? No, one person may be seated with the guest in handicapped seating.

    Are reservations required to sit in the handicap or interpreters for the deaf seating? No, but if you have any questions, please email Kathy Stanley in the front office. 

    Where can the hearing-impaired sit and is there interpretation provided for them? Two ASL interpreters will be located in the press box and will be recorded and viewed on the Jumbotron.

    Will there be restrooms available? Public restrooms are available.

    Will there be concessions available? No, but you are welcome to bring your own bottled water.

    Will there be a video of each graduate shown on the Jumbotron before the ceremony? Yes. Each graduate will have their yearbook picture displayed along with their name.

    Will there be a livestream video? Yes, please  check the Olathe Public Schools graduation webpage to access the link. This will be available two days prior to the graduation date.

    How do I ensure I am included in alumni news and events? All graduates of the Olathe schools are encouraged to email the Olathe Public Schools Alumni Association, call 913-780-8182, or visit their webpage.
