Cross-Country

  • First day of cross-country — Monday, Aug. 18 from 3:25-4:15 p.m. Meet in the Auditorium; athletes do not need to dress out this day. It will be an informational meeting only.

Practices — Mondays through Thursdays from 3:25-4:15 p.m. Occasional Friday practices, per request of the coach.

At middle school cross-country meets, the eighth graders will run two miles and the sixth and seventh graders will run one mile. All athletes need to wear the uniform top that is checked out to them and their own black or navy shorts for each meet. Meets are typically an hour long. A bus will take athletes to and from meets. Parents/guardians may take athletes home with them after meets, but must check out with a coach. In case of inclement weather, please watch the Prairie Trail website for cancellation news or the Remind App.

The easiest way to stay up to date with cross-country announcements is to join the team’s Remind App. To do so, send a text to 81010 with the message @ec43a6 or sign up online. If you don’t sign up, you may miss important information throughout the season.

    Practices

    • All participants must have a physical and concussion form on file in order to start practicing. Athletes have to attend 12 practices in order to compete in the first meet. There are only 12 practice opportunities before the first meet, so it is imperative that they have forms turned in so they can participate in the meet.
    • Practice will begin Monday, Aug. 18. Practices are from 3:25-4:20 p.m. Due to heat, we may potentially have morning practices, usually held around 7:45 a.m. The last day of the season is Monday Sept. 29 after the City Meet. After the City Meet, wash the uniform and wait for instructions on where to return it.
    • Most weeks we will have practice Monday through Thursday, but there will be two Friday practices (Aug. 22 and Aug. 29) at the beginning of the season. Friday, Aug. 29 is a half day, so practice will be 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
    • Athletes should be picked up after practice on the west side of the building.
    • Athletes will meet in the multipurpose room for agilities in running clothes. Their belongings should be left in the locker room.
