Report an Absence
-
School attendance is very important. If your child is going to be absent or late, please contact the office by 9:15 a.m. in one of these ways (even if you have already let the teacher know):
- Call 913-780-7690 anytime 24/7 to leave a message, even if school is closed. (The office is open from 8:15 a.m.- 4:15 p.m., but you can always leave a message.)
- Email the TH attendance group at any time 24/7. This email includes both secretaries and the nurse.
Students will be counted as unexcused if parents have not contacted the office on the day of the absence.
Please let us know the following information:
- The child's name and the teacher's name
- Date the absence will occur
- Reason for absence – illness, appointment, etc.
- If your child is sick, please include symptoms of sickness (fever, cough, etc.)
- If your child will be late, do they need a school lunch? Which option?
- Approximately when will your child arrive at school?
- If your child will miss the entire day, do you want homework held in the office so you can pick it up or do you want it sent home with another child?
Per district policy, all absences and tardies need to list a reason for the lateness/leaving early (dentist appointment, overslept, ill, etc.). Writing “late” is not an excusable reason.
School Attendance Hours:
- Students will be tardy if not in their classroom by 8:55 a.m.
- Students arriving after 9:30 a.m. will be marked absent for at least one-quarter of the day and must have a parent sign them in to avoid being counted as unexcused.
- Students leaving between 3-3:45 p.m. are counted as absent for one-quarter of the day.
Please contact the office with questions about attendance.
