If your child is going to be absent or late, please contact the office by 9:15 a.m. in one of these ways (even if you have already let the teacher know):

1. Call 913-780-7690 anytime 24/7 to leave a message, even if school is closed. (The office is open from 8:15 a.m.- 4:15 p.m., but you can always leave a message.) Please include their lunch choice if they are going to be late and your student needs a lunch.
2. Email the TH Attendance group at thattendance@olatheschools.org anytime 24/7. This email includes both secretaries and the nurse. You may also include the teacher but know that when a teacher is absent, the substitute does not have access to the teacher's email. Please include their lunch choice if they are going to be late and your student needs lunch.

Students will be counted as unexcused if parents have not contacted the office on the day of the absence.

Per district policy, all absences and tardies need to list a reason for the lateness/leaving early (dentist appointment, overslept, ill, etc.).  Writing “late” is not an excusable reason.

Reminders about the Attendance Policy

Elementary students are tardy if not in their classrooms by 8:55 a.m. At 8:50 a.m., our staff helpers come in and the south door is closed. Students will need to come in through the front door after 8:50 a.m. Please remember to have students arrive at school before 8:45 a.m. in order to get them out of the car and to class on time.

Students will be considered tardy from 8:55-9:29 a.m. We appreciate a phone call or email with your child's lunch choice for the day if your child is not going to be at school by 9:15 a.m. 

Students arriving after 9:30 a.m. will be marked as absent for at least one-quarter of the day and must have a parent sign them in to avoid being counted as unexcused.

If a student leaves between 3:00-3:45 p.m., they are counted as absent for one-quarter of the day.
