Student Government News

  • What does your Student Government do for our school?

Student Government works throughout the school year to provide ideas and spirit to our school. They also provide passive fundraising opportunities for our school and philanthropy to those in our community. If your student has an idea for something to improve our school they can tell an SG representative and we’ll see what we can do!  SG uses funds to provide needed items for our school (like the ML entry rug by the office, more art clips for the hallways, the mascot uniform, etc).

Earn Money for Meadow Lane with Passive Fundraising!

HyVee Receipts: Collect your receipts from the Hy-Vee store at 119th St/ Ridgeview and Student Government earns a percentage back. No gas receipts. It adds up fast!
Papa John’s: Be sure to eat Papa John’s pizza on ML nights. A percentage of all sales comes back to SG. The more we buy the more they give us!

    Help the Community!

    • Paper Recycling: Student Government organizes paper recycling in the school so we have less waste!
    • Collect your tabs for the Ronald McDonald House of KC! They use the money made from recycling the tabs to help with house expenses. Thanks for pulling for RMH!
    • Pennies for Shoes Drive: SG will collect coins (or dollars!) for the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund in December to raise money for shoes for Olathe kids in need. This is a district competition and has provided thousands of shoes for our community! The Meadow Lane Student Government is collecting money for the Pennies for Shoes drive. Please bring pennies, nickels, dimes, or quarters (dollars work too) to your classroom to donate for this great cause during the week of December 4-15. The money will go to the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund which will help the Center of Grace provide shoes for children in need. We hope to help lots of kids get new shoes this holiday season. Thank you for your help! If we reach our goal of $1500, Mr. Lowe and some daring staff will have a steak and shake eating challenge! We will have this event at 2:00 p.m. on December 19th prior to the spirit squad performance…don’t miss it!
