It is a pleasure to welcome you to Arbor Creek Elementary home of the Otters AND 2016 Rita Blitt Kindest School Award.

As we begin this school year, I am honored to serve this incredible community as principal of this amazing school with 18 years of tradition and excellence. Since opening our doors for the first time in August 2002, we have continued to celebrate years of exemplary performance and distinction within the State of Kansas.

I am pleased to announce that Arbor Creek has been awarded grant dollars to move several important, innovative projects forward.  Thanks to a grant from the Olathe Education Foundation, Arbor Creek has launched a kids’ version of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.  This new program termed The Leader In Me is an important change effort building leadership skills into each and every student.  In the months and years to come, Arbor Creek Otters will take on more and more of the leadership opportunities that are often only provided to adults.

Music teacher, Jamie Trumpp, collaborated with several colleagues to acquire steel drums and ukuleles for every student in a typically sized classroom.  Upper grade students will enjoy learning to use both instruments to promote melodic growth.

Second grade teacher, Lisa Haines, has written for and received two grants from the Walmart Corporation to further her students’ study.

Fifth grade teacher, Sheila Cabanas, has been awarded a grant to study the ways that food can be grown in unusual places with her “window farming” project.

We are proud of our entrepreneurial spirit in our teachers at Arbor Creek, who are always striving for new ways that students can learn and grow.

Our school has a record of exceptional academic achievement. The mission statement here at Arbor Creek is “Challenge the Mind, Strengthen the Heart, Build the Future”, where caring, dedicated staff that has high expectations for themselves and their students. The quality of relationships that exist between students and teachers and home with school adds to the uniqueness and success of ACE.

I look forward to working with each of you as we begin an exciting school year together. We welcome you to check out our website, visit our building, get involved and explore the many opportunities our amazing school has to offer.
