Olathe North offers a number of AP courses, giving students the opportunity to engage in rigorous coursework and earn college credit/placement. Students enrolled in AP courses are encouraged to take the AP exam, especially if they are not taking the course for dual enrollment through the JCCC College Now Program. One goal at Olathe North is to have every AP student take at least one AP exam during their high school career. Studies show that if a student takes an AP class and prepares for the AP exam throughout the school year, they will be a stronger student overall and more prepared for college-level work.
Registration is now open for AP testing. Testing will take place the first two weeks of May, but students must decide this fall whether they want to take an AP exam. Students planning to take AP exams must have their registration and payment completed by Monday, Nov. 4 to avoid a late fee. The cost of the exam is $104 per test. Students on free/reduced lunch can test at no cost, but they must still register. Any student that has a financial need should see counselor Nicole Etherton in the counseling office. It is critical that students make an educated decision about whether to register for the exam.
Students who do not register by the Nov. 4 deadline will have to pay a $50 late fee to add an exam later. In addition, students that cancel an exam after registration will be charged a $50 cancelation fee. Students will register for the exam through their CollegeBoard account and can finalize test registration by paying for the AP exams using the Olathe School District Intouch payment system. If you have general questions about AP, please email counselor and AP coordinator Nicole Etherton.
