Watch D.O.G.S.

  • Watch D.O.G.S. logoThe Watch Dog Dads program was started in 1998 by a dad in Jonesboro, Arkansas after a school shooting at Westside Middle School.

    Goals

    • Provide a positive male role model for students
    • Provide and extra set of eyes and ears to enhance security and reduce bullying.

What your day will look like

    • Check in at the front office and Shoba will give you your schedule for the day.
    • Start at 8:00 a.m. by greeting kids and helping with drop-off in front of the school.
    • Your schedule will tell you where to go from there. You will go to your child’s classroom and hopefully to their specials as well. You will go to recess and will be in the lunchroom for all the lunch rotations. You will get to eat with your child/children at their lunch time.
    • Throughout the day, you will be asked to check all the outside doors to make sure they are all closed properly.

Things you will be asked to do

    • Help students with work such as flash cards, math, reading (the teacher will have things planned for you to do)
    • Interact with the students at recess
    • Help in the lunch room (open ketchup packets, juice box straws, etc.)
    • Monitor the hallways and doors
    • Please follow your schedule (the teachers are counting on you)
