Many Ways to Volunteer at Head Start
-
Volunteering is a large part of how our program operates. No amount of time is too small. There are various opportunities for individuals and groups to be part of the program.
Classroom Volunteer
Individuals can assist teaching staff and the children with the day-to-day activities of the classroom. Volunteers help at meal time, center time, in small groups, outside time or any other activities that happen during the day in order to make the children's day a success.
Childcare Volunteer
Help is needed to play and read with children for evening activities. Contact Jill Luse to schedule a time: 913-780-7416
Group Volunteering
Businesses and organizations may adopt a family for the holidays, organize a donation drive for classroom supplies, or coordinate a school clean-up project.
We understand that members of the community want to help out and make a difference. At Olathe Head Start, we appreciate any amount of time/donations that is received in order to provide a better, quality experience for the children and families.

Donations
The program is always looking for, and appreciates, donations to assist in making our services top quality. Needed items include classroom supplies such as children’s books (English and Spanish), new or gently used toys that assist with our curriculum planning/implementation (contact Katie Dorsey, education coordinator, for specifics), and outdoor/gross motor toys. Office supplies for the program are always in need. To arrange a donation delivery, please contact the main office at 913-780-7416.
