Sean DeMaree became our principal in the 2023-24 school year. Sean has a diverse background in education, spending time as a music educator in an urban district, working as an instructional coach, and leading the social-emotional development plan for a district. He directly oversees our school’s vision and mission, counseling, performing arts,community partnerships, and the academic success of our students.

Gabe Mervosh leads Olathe South’s professional development and approach to curriculum and instruction. Gabe worked as an instructional coach, and specializes in English education and designing professional learning communities. Gabe directly oversees English, visual arts, and the business department. He also designs and leads the development for new teachers. He oversees students with last names beginning with D-I.

Andrew Miller is the athletic director and an assistant principal at Olathe South. He served as a teacher in Olathe Public Schools before transitioning to administration. Andrew believes in forming meaningful relationships with students, staff, and the community. He works directly with the 21st Century Academies and the physical education department Olathe South. Andrew works with all athletic programs as well as our cheer program and oversees students with the last name starting with A-C.

Phil Simons served Olathe Public Schools as a coach and history teacher known for his ability to build relationships. As a leader, Phil specializes in equitable education practices, curriculum development, athletic growth, and culture and climate improvement. He directly oversees athletics, physical education, and history. He oversees students with last names beginning with R-Z.

Alexis Wilkerson became an assistant principal in the 2023-24 school year. Alexis has an extensive background in special education, most recently as a special education coordinator in Kansas City, Kansas. She has also worked as a teacher and instructional coach. Alexis directly oversees our special education department, FACS, math, and our club activities. She oversees students with last names beginning with J-Q.
