Timberwolf Track Information

  • Track season is almost here! It is a district requirement that all athletes have a physical and concussion form on file with the nurse for the 2024-25 school year to participate in any sport. Athletes must have the physical and concussion form turned in to the nurse prior to the first day of practice. All participants also need to have the signed track permission sheet (PDF) turned into Tracy Rundberg or Jeff Carlson by Friday, March 14.

    • The first practice for sixth grade boys and girls will be Tuesday, March 25.
    • The first practice for all grade levels, boys and girls, will be Wednesday, March 26.
    • Practice times are 3:20-4:50 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:20-8 a.m. on Fridays.
    • View our 2025 track schedule (PDF)

Boys will meet in the main gym and girls will meet in the auxiliary gym. Athletes should be dressed for current weather conditions. Practice will start sharply at 3:30 p.m. The locker room will be locked after 3:30 p.m. If you need to talk to a teacher after school, inform your coach that you may be late for practice. We will have a large team and need all athletes to be in their respective gym ready for attendance to be taken and start practice at 3:30 p.m. Rides must be here by 5 p.m. to pick you up. Pick up is outside the cafeteria on the west side of the school, using the same process as after-school dismissal.

    Track Guidelines:

    • Attendance: All practices are mandatory unless an emergency arises. If you must be gone from practice, please notify your grade level coach prior to practice with a note, email, or phone call from your parent/guardian. Two missed practices will prevent you from competing in the next meet. You must participate at practice, unless injured, or it will be considered an unexcused practice.
    • Academics: Your class work is first and foremost. If you have a failing grade in any class, you cannot compete in a meet until the grade is above an F. Keep your grades up!
    • Track Meets: Athletes must be present at school the day of the track meet to participate. Behavior at all track meets must be appropriate. As we represent Mission Trail, appropriate behavior is expected at all meets. Any negative behavior at meets or on the bus will result in the offenders missing the next track meet and receiving an office referral (school events are an extension of our school day). Parents may take their child home after away meets by checking them out with their grade level coach.
      • City Meet Qualifications: For each grade level, the top two athletes in each event will compete in the city meet. Relay teams will be determined by grade level coaches.
      • Meets: All field events will start as soon as the hosting school is ready to have the athletes compete.
    • Equipment: Mission Trail supplies sixth, seventh and eighth grade participants with: sweatshirt and pants, running uniform, all field equipment needed. Mission Trail does not supply any type of shoes for track. For practice and meets, good quality running shoes are recommended. Regular tennis shoes may cause shin splints or cause your feet and legs to hurt.
