About Canyon Creek

  • Canyon Creek Elementary serves students in preschool through grade five and is part of the Olathe School District. The Olathe School District is one of the major school districts in the Kansas City metropolitan area and the second-largest school district in the state of Kansas. Canyon Creek is a neighborhood school serving approximately 450 students. Canyon Creek is the Olathe School District’s newest elementary school, opening its doors in August 2019. It is located at 24001 W. 97th Terrace in Lenexa, KS.

At Canyon Creek, students receive a rigorous education that focuses on standards-based instruction with an emphasis on Project-Based Learning. Project-Based learning (PBL) is a practice that takes a learning-by-doing approach wherein students are active participants in their own educational development. In a PBL classroom, you often find students solving problems, participating in simulations, conducting case studies and designing research projects based on different areas of inquiry. Students learn the content through a project instead of completing a project after learning the material.

The staff at Canyon Creek is focused on Making the Classrooms at Canyon Creek as Dynamic as the World Around Us.
