Football Schedule

  • Equipment Checkout

    • When: Wednesday, Aug. 13
    • Time: Eighth grade – 1:30-2:30 p.m. (Do not arrive before 1:25 p.m.); seventh grade – 2:30-3:30 p.m. (Do not arrive before 2:25 p.m.)
    • Where: Auxiliary Gym (new gym)

During equipment checkout, each player will receive his helmet, shoulder pads, practice jersey, practice pants, mouthpiece, and locker. During equipment checkout, please note that there is usually a wait time due to the number of
players. Players must place all their football materials, except their mouthpiece, into their lockers after checkout. Mouthpieces must be molded before our first practice; instructions are on the package.

Players must purchase a football girdle. We offer the opportunity to order them through BSN Sports. BSN girdles are well-made and provided at the lowest possible price. Girdles will be delivered to the school before our first full-contact practice if you buy them through BSN. Purchase girdles from BSN before the site closes Wednesday. Aug. 13. The girdles should arrive the following week. We do not have practice with full pads until Friday, Aug. 22.

Players need to purchase rubberized cleats. No metal cleats. Players can also buy a different mouthpiece if they want. If you have any questions, please e-mail Coach Ruiz.

    Spirit Wear

Optional spirit wear is available for purchase online, but the site closes Aug. 13.

    Practice Schedule

If a player doesn’t attend our planned Saturday, Aug. 23, or a potential Labor Day practice, we have 12 practices before our first game. A player must participate in 12 practices before he can play in a game. Therefore, players must attend practice and participate to be eligible to play in the first game.

The first practice is 3:40-5:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18. We practice Monday through Friday from 3:40-5:40 p.m. before our first game. After our first game, we may move Friday practices to the morning. Players will need shorts, a T-shirt, cleats, a helmet, and a mouthpiece for the first four days of practice.

    • Days 1 and 2 — Helmets only
    • Days 3 and 4 — Helmets and shoulder pads
    • Day 5 — Full pads, live action

If your child uses an inhaler, he must bring it daily. A player must bring a jug of water with enough water to hydrate him for a two-hour practice. The coach recommends buying several short-sleeved moisture-wicking shirts made from synthetic materials or blends, like polyester or nylon.
