TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.
The TumbleBookLibrary is a collection of licensed titles from children’s book publishers such as Simon & Schuster, Chronicle Books, Candlewick Press, Charlesbridge Press, Harcourt, Little Brown, Walker & Company, Lerner Books, amongst others.
The TumbleBookLibrary provides enrichment to students who are reading independently with a variety of high interest material. It also provides support to students who require skill building with a variety of exercises that can be matched with other areas of the curriculum. In general, TumbleBooks are a great addition to a reading program that can be worked on independently by each student or by the whole class. It has been exceptionally well received by ESL and Special Education teachers. The website is constantly adding new books, so check in frequently!
Enjoy the Game!
Enjoy the game and read! Reading all types of books will having you batting a thousand in school! You want to score big in the classroom and with your grades? Read, read and read some more! Reading exercises your imagination as you allow it to soar to new heights.
Our focus this year for reading at Havencroft is to encourage each of our students to read for 30 minutes each day. Fifteen minutes can be counted from time spent reading at school and the other 15 minutes at home with or without a parent.
Watch for a calendar to come home monthly for recording your child’s daily reading. Return the calendar to school at the end of each month. Our school-wide goal is to increase participation in each classroom. Parents of preschoolers and kindergartners, please count those minutes you spend reading to your children.
Research has found that the most important factors in a child’s long-term reading ability are parental attitudes, expectations, and involvement in reading with them. We hope this program motivates quality family reading time.
