Parent Teacher Organization

  • What is PTO?

PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization. We're a group of parents and school staff who volunteer some of our extra time to support Havencroft. Participation requires no dues and no commitment.

    What do we do?

We make new friends. We build community in the school. We also work on fundraising to provide financial assistance where needs are identified, in areas such as

    • field trips
    • classroom grant requests
    • community-building events
    • teacher appreciation
    • other school and family wellness efforts

Other than fundraising and community-building, we work to enable better communication between the school and parents. We also aim to support staff in their pursuit of excellence.

    Why do we do it?

Quite frankly, it's fun. Our kids love seeing us volunteer at school and we appreciate being part of the good work Havencroft does.

    Where do you sign up?

You are already a part of the PTO because you have a student attending Havencroft. However, to get more involved you can join the email list, join our Havencroft PTO Facebook page, attend meetings, volunteer to help at an event, or join a committee.

    How can you help?

The Fall Fundraiser's goal is to send every classroom on two or three field trips. We need help planning and executing the event. This year the event will be a Fun Run.

The Fun Fair is an early spring student and family party paired with an online fundraiser auction. You can help on a number of short-term committees.

Hawk Helpers pick a task off the school's list of needs. You may volunteer to water the learning garden every weekend in September, organize the Little Free Library once a month, hang up Word of the Week posters around the halls, or find something different that fits your particular schedule.

Fundraising involves networking or visiting businesses to collect auction donations or sponsorships.

Being a room parent means you plan and lead the holiday parties in your child's class.

Being a PTO officer involves positions such as president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. These are volunteer positions voted on every year.
