2022-23 COVID Update
-
The Olathe Public Schools will not track or require reporting of COVID cases. Please stay home if you are sick. The following information is being provided as a resource.
COVID Testing:
Testing for COVID is widely available at all drugstores and other retailers. School buildings will have a limited number of tests available. Individuals needing a test can contact their school nurse. Those who receive a testing kit from the school will be required to take the collected specimen to the MAWD lab for processing.
Exposure:
If you are a known exposure to an individual who has tested positive for COVID, you should monitor for symptoms for 10 days and test if symptoms develop. Normal attendance is suggested as long as the individual is symptom free.
Return to School/Work:
Staff and students who test positive should isolate at home for five days after the onset of symptoms. On Day 6, those who are fever-free and showing improving symptoms may return to the school/work setting masked through Day 10.
Communication with Health Department:
The district will not provide names of positive cases to the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment. District staff will report the number of COVID cases to JCDHE each week as is done with the other communicable diseases like flu, etc.
The district does not plan to actively enforce the information outlined above but will rely on our community to keep all of us as healthy as possible.
