11-11-21 — Three New Members to Join Board of Education
Nov. 11, 2021 ~ The Johnson County Board of Canvassers has certified the official results of the recent board of education election. Three new people were elected to the Olathe Public Schools Board of Education. All three individuals will be sworn in during the board’s Jan. 13 meeting.
Julie Steele, Position 3 in the northwest area of the district, was elected to fill a vacancy left by board member Brent McCune who did not run for reelection. In her candidate questionnaire for the district, Steele cited her involvement in school-related councils and work as a paraprofessional and classroom teacher for the district as a qualification for the board.
Robert Kuhn was elected to Position 5 in the eastern portion of the district. “I understand the successes and challenges the school district faces and I want to be a voice of our community in making Olathe School District even more successful,” he said in his candidate questionnaire.
Brian G. Connell was elected to Position 6 in the northwest area of the district. Connell and his family moved to Olathe in 2007. His candidate questionnaire stated, “I look forward to advocating for all kids, parents, teachers/staff to be seen, to be heard, to be respected and valued as we work together to keep a high standard of excellence in our schools.”
