May 3, 2021 ~ The Olathe Public Schools Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 6 in the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, all visitors to the building, including staff, must wear a face mask. A limited number of people will be admitted into the board room in order to maintain a distance of 6 feet between people. Meetings will be livestreamed because of the limited capacity. Viewers will be able to watch by visiting the district’s YouTube channel.
The board will hear three presentations. Olathe NEA educator representative Leigh Anne Rogers will talk about Teacher Appreciation Week, May 3-7. Members of the Learning Services team will provide an update on work being accomplished with Market Value Assets (MVAs) for high school students. Angie Salava, director of social emotional learning and mental health, will update board members on supports available to students and the community during the summer.
Board members will act on a consent agenda of routine items as well as more than a dozen bids, contracts and agreements. They will also vote on Kansas Association of School Boards nominating committee and governmental relations network positions, budget development goals and timeline, and instructional materials for middle school career and technical education courses.
The board will receive information on a dozen future action items and one written report.
Two executive sessions are planned: to discuss non-elected personnel, and to consult with the district’s attorney.
