Student Selected to International Thespian Society

Anna Hastings, senior at Olathe South High School, was elected to serve as an International Thespian Officer. Hastings is one of six students from the United States who are elected to serve in the International Thespian Society.

“It takes at a lot of service and a little good luck to be selected for this honor,” said David Hastings, Olathe South theatre teacher. “Olathe South theatre and our district are very proud of Anna.”

This is the second International Thespian Officer from Olathe in as many years.

Students Compete in National History Day Contest

Two Olathe students earned the right to compete in the National History Day competition held in College Park, Maryland. In order to compete in the national competition, students must have placed in the top three of the state competition.

Kaelyn Wellman, Olathe Northwest High School sophomore, entered the historical paper category. Wellman placed first in both the district and state contest but did not place in the national competition.

Olga Lesnik, Olathe West High School senior, entered the senior individual exhibit category. Lesnik placed second in both the district and state contest but did not place in the national competition.
