Olathe Student Awarded Study Trip to Germany
Megan Li, sophomore at Olathe East High School, has been awarded an all-expense paid summer study trip to Germany. Li was selected as one of 34 national winners of this study trip from the American Association of Teachers of German after scoring in the 97th percentile on the Level 2 National German Exam for High School Students.
“Megan is an excellent student, and I am excited for her to have earned this award for her efforts in learning German,” Olathe East German teacher Christine Hanks said. “She will make the most of this opportunity to learn about German culture firsthand and expand her skills with the German language.”
“Megan is a terrific scholar and is truly deserving of this award,” Olathe East Principal Kerry Lane said. “What an amazing opportunity for a high school student to travel abroad as many don’t have this access until college. She makes Olathe East proud.”
Olathe Student Earns $10,000 National Scholarship
Olathe Northwest High School senior Alex Howard will receive a $10,000 scholarship from the Achitecture, Construction and Engineering (ACE) Mentor Program of America and will travel to Washington, D.C., in May to accept the honor.
“We are very proud of Alex and his scholarship,” Olathe Northwest Principal Chris Zuck said. “Alex has made the natural extension from his experience in our Engineering Academy to the ACE program. He speaks very highly of the ACE program and encourages other students who have interest in construction, engineering and architecture to consider participating.”
