4-2-18 — Board to Hear About Tax Income, Graduation Proposal
April 2, 2018 ~ The Olathe Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 5 in the Education Center, 14160 Black Bob Road, Olathe. Two presentations are on the agenda: an update on county tax assessments and a graduation proposal for the class of 2019.
Johnson County Commission Chair Ed Eilert and Johnson County Appraiser Paul Welcome will provide information on the “dark store theory” of property valuation and its potential impact on the county and school district.
Executive Director of General Administration / Secondary Programs Jim McMullen will share a graduation proposal for the class of 2019 and speak about the upcoming opening of Summit Trail Middle School this fall.
The board meeting will begin with recognitions and awards including a community partner, outstanding staff, talented students, and exceptional athletes.
Board members will also address a number of action items including the consent agenda, bids/ contracts/ agreements, and student trips.
A number of future action items will be shared with the board, as will written reports about the district survey, Head Start program, and spring parent-teacher conferences.
The board plans to take an executive session to discuss legal matters and personnel matters.
