2-10-16 — Scholarship Fund Building toward Goal
Feb. 10, 2016 ~ As the district prepares for the opening of its fifth high school in 2017, members of the Olathe Public Schools Alumni Association are building a new scholarship to help graduates of all district high schools.
The Olathe Public Schools Alumni Association Scholarship joins two other association-managed scholarships, both of which benefit students from a specific school. Donations for this new scholarship will grow until at least $1,000 has been raised. The goal is to begin offering the alumni association scholarship with the class of 2018, the first year to include Olathe West High School graduates.
"The award will be given to a senior who is actively involved in school activities and shares plans to engage with alumni activities," said Heather Schoonover, community liaison for the district and member of the association board.
Alumni from Olathe's four high schools, as well as their families and friends, are invited to help build this scholarship that will benefit students from all Olathe Public Schools high schools.
Donations can be made to the Olathe Alumni Association Scholarship, c/o Olathe Public Schools Foundation, 315 N. Lindenwood, Olathe KS 66062. Anyone with questions about the scholarship may call the Community Development Department at (913) 780-8182.
