11-28-16 — Olathe West is Topic of Presentation to Board Members

Nov. 28, 2016 ~ Three timely presentations will be featured at the Olathe Board of Education's regular meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in the Education Center, 14160 Black Bob Road, Olathe.

First, students from three schools will explain how the district has supported, engaged and challenged them as individual students.

Two administrators will provide an update on enrollment, staffing, athletics and activities, 21st Century Academies, and planned professional development relating to Olathe West High School. The district's fifth high school will open in August.

The final presentation will give board members information about the district's efforts to involve students, staff, families and the community in supporting the emotional wellness and mental health needs of all students.

The board will honor two community partners, an outstanding school counselor, the United Way Executive Committee, a special marching band member, and several state athletic champions.

In addition to a consent agenda, the board will take action on bids, contracts and agreements including construction change orders, construction trade bids, and technology needs. Board members will also take action on audit reports, a student trip, and its 2017 legislative positions.

Reports on fall parent-teacher conferences and the district Site Council meeting are among the written information to be shared.

The board plans an executive session to discuss personnel matters and consult with its attorney.
