11-10-21 — Kansas Reads to Preschoolers
Nov. 10, 2021 ~ Students at Heatherstone Elementary, Harmony Early Childhood Center and Tomahawk Elementary received a special surprise during the afternoon on Nov. 9 when a guest reader arrived at their classrooms as part of “Kansas Reads to Preschoolers” month. Board of Education President Joe Beveridge arrived with several of his favorite books in tow to share the love of reading with the district’s earliest learners.
“One of the best parts of serving on the Board of Education is the opportunity to visit our Olathe classrooms and experience learning in action,” said Joe Beveridge, Board of Education president. “Today, I was able to be part of the learning by reading some of my favorite books to our youngest students. We know that early literacy plays a key role in preparing every student for their success, and I was honored to be a part of that this week.”
The Kansas State Library promotes early literacy to all Kansas children from birth through age five during this annual event. For more information about this annual event, visit the Kansas State Library website.
