7-27-20 — 2020 Graduation a Unique Milestone for Seniors
July 27, 2020 ~ The 2020 graduation may have occurred later in the summer than originally planned, but it certainly marked a milestone for the 2,145 graduates who received their diplomas on July 24-26.
Moved from late May to late July because of the COVID-19 pandemic, graduation 2020 looked much different than previous years’ events. During planning for the rescheduled ceremonies, Assistant Superintendent Jim McMullen noted the district was excited to honor the 2020 graduates in a safe manner with precautions in place.
“This ceremony is about our graduates,” he wrote to all families. “It’s time to take a breath, smile, and watch our kids walk across the stage.”
This year’s group of graduates showed patience and learned to adjust when their senior year of school was cut short.
By year’s end, these seniors had accepted $18,739,606 in scholarships to various universities and colleges so they can continue their love of learning.
