Olathe Teacher Receives Honor from Alma Mater
Josh Stock, Santa Fe Trail Middle School language arts teacher, was recently named as one of three Outstanding Recent Graduates from Emporia State University’s College of Liberal Arts and Science, The Teachers College and the School of Business.
Stock has taught at Santa Fe Trail for 10 years and has received numerous awards from many national associations.
“Josh continues to engage students in very innovative ways in the classroom,” Santa Fe Trail Principal J.J. Libal said. “On one day, you might see his students ‘climbing’ Mount Everest after reading a novel. The next day, students might be writing a proposal for classroom improvements. We are proud that he is being recognized by Emporia State University.”
Recipients will receive a plaque from the ESU Alumni Association, which coordinates a banquet in their honor.
Olathe Educator Receives Additional Honor
Earlier this fall, Chisholm Trail Middle School social studies teacher Ashley Umphrey was selected as the 2019 Kansas Council for History Education Elementary Teacher of the Year. During the Kansas Social Studies Conference, Umphrey received an additional honor selected as the 2019 Kansas Social Studies Teacher of the Year. This award encompasses all grade levels.
“We are so proud of Ashley,” Chisholm Trail Principal Michael Wolgast said. “We are glad to have her as a part of our Chisholm Trail family.”
