7-29-19 — Board to Swear in New Member at August Meeting
July 29, 2019 ~ Newly appointed board of education member Kristin Schultz will take the oath of office during the Olathe Board of Education’s regular meeting on Thursday, Aug. 1. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe.
Following the swearing in ceremony, the board will hear a presentation from Deputy Superintendent for Business and Operations John Hutchison about the 2019-20 preliminary budget.
The board’s agenda includes a consent agenda of routine items as well as a professional development for the next five years and changes to five existing board policies ranging from master schedules to school safety.
The board will act on more than a dozen bids, contracts and agreements including playground equipment replacement, HVAC replacement project, and a police resource instructor for the 21st Century Public Safety Academy. Other action items include board member committee and site council assignments, notice of hearing publication for the 2019-20 budget, and establishing a special meeting in August to make final modifications and approve the state budget documents.
Board members will receive information on a dozen future action items ranging from student trips to curriculum.
Two executive sessions are planned: to consult with the district’s attorney, and to discuss employer-employee negotiations.
