4-29-19 — National Teacher Day on Board Agenda
April 29, 2019 ~ The Olathe Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 2 in the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe. One presentation and a handful of recognitions highlight the agenda.
Olathe National Education Association representative Kathy Meyer will share information about National Teacher Day, celebrated May 7. She will show a video spotlighting how students thank their teachers for the impact teachers have in the classroom every day.
The board will recognize a community partner, retiring school resource officer and his canine partner, and several academically outstanding high school students.
The agenda includes a consent agenda of routine items; more than a dozen bids, contracts and agreements; and an appointment to the Kansas Association of School Boards nominating committee. Board members will receive information on nearly two dozen future action items including student trips, instructional materials, district calendars, and insurance policy renewals. They will also receive the Head Start director’s monthly written report before adjourning for a total of three executive sessions. The private sessions are to consult with the district’s attorney, discuss non-elected personnel, and discuss the potential acquisition of real property.
