2-27-19 — Olathe Crowns Spelling Bee Champion
Feb. 27, 2019 ~ Manu Sripathi, a fourth-grade student from Regency Place Elementary, won the Olathe Spelling Bee in 30 rounds and will represent the district at the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Approximately 46 students competed in the bee. Sripathi correctly spelled “epistle” to win the bee. Eva Smith, a seventh-grade student from Summit Trail Middle School, came in second place.
“We are proud of all of the participants who represented their individual schools and district so well,” Assistant Superintendent for Learning Services Brent Yeager said. “Manu did an outstanding job and we wish him the best of luck at the National Spelling Bee.”
The 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee will be held May 26-31 near Washington, D.C. “The Olathe News” sponsors the Olathe Bee.
